We have quality data that shows us at virtually any point in time how we are impacting patients’ health. We are meeting or exceeding expectations in most areas, but I want to share with you how we make an economic impact in our communities. A recent report from Capital Link reveals our economic impact.
At a national level, community health centers provide primary and preventive care to 1 in 15 people in the United States, and the demand is increasing all the time. Health centers save the healthcare system $28.6 billion annually through collective patient care management.
Health Centers create jobs positively impacting the economy. Health Centers directly supported 156,816 full-time jobs plus an additional 147,805 jobs in other industries in 2013. Health Centers collectively generated more than $39.7 billion in total economic activity in 2013, and health centers annually contribute approximately $4.9 billion in federal, state, and local tax revenue, which is a 26% increase over the previous year!
Not only is it a great feeling to be leading change in healthcare that results in healthier people in our communities, but being part of a national healthcare movement serving the healthcare needs all across this nation is a most worthy and rewarding way to invest our lives. Take a look at how ACCESS Family Care impacted our local communities in 2014:
- ACCESS provided 61,905 visits to 19,976 patients and we provided them $25 million in cost savings!
- ACCESS directly generated 155 full-time jobs and supported an additional 45 jobs in other industries resulting in a $17,609,042 total economic impact.
- ACCESS contributed approximately $0.5 in state and local tax revenue and $1.3 million in federal tax revenue for a total tax impact of $1.8 million.
All our employees are active contributors in this healthcare movement that is increasing wellness, creating cost savings, and contributing to the positive economic impact of our communities.
