Smith tackles expanded role
Neosho, MO December 5, 2014—After coming to ACCESS Family Care, as a Dentist in 2011, Dr. Kala Smith has been elevated to the position of Dental Director. Dr. Smith assumed her new role in May of this year. Dr. Smith makes her home in Joplin, with her husband. A native of Tennessee, Dr. Smith obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin. Upon graduation, she attended the University of Kentucky, where she obtained her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD).
Dr. Smith embodies Servant Leadership, which is practiced daily at Access Dental Clinics. Dr. Smith says she enjoys, “having been able to help patients, who were terrified of the Dentist, to become at ease in the dental chair.” Dr. Smith plans to expand upon this belief of compassion and understanding, as she leads the nine Dentists, who currently serve ACCESS Family Care Dental Clinics, in Joplin, Anderson, and Cassville.
Dr. Smith wants the community to know, “I have been working at ACCESS for over 3 years. I enjoy the opportunity to serve others and work alongside great people. It is a blessing to be a part of a company that follows the servant leadership model.”

ACCESS Family Care (ACCESS), was founded in 1996 as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) for the purpose of increasing access to primary health care for those who lack medical insurance coverage. As an FQHC, ACCESS receives a 330 Federal grant from the Bureau of Primary Health Care designed to offset the expenses associated with providing sliding fee discounts to patients who demonstrate economic need.

All Clinics are open Monday through Friday, from 08:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m.; with late hours on Tuesdays, where they are open until 07:00 p.m. The Dental Clinic, in Anderson, closes at 2 p.m., on Fridays.
