ACCESS Family Care has been recognized as a 2013 Bronze Level Clinical Quality Award recipient by the Missouri Primary Care Association (MPCA).

Eight Performance Measures were utilized to determine award level: Diabetes Control (Good/Adequate Control and Uncontrolled), Hypertension Control, Cervical Cancer Screening, Weight Assessment/Counseling Adults, Weight Assessment/Counseling Children, Tobacco Use Assessment, and Tobacco Cessation.

“Missouri’s community health centers are all about quality care. ACCESS is a health center anyone would be confident in the care of a loved one,” said Don McBride, ACCESS Family Care CEO.

The 2013 clinical quality award criteria was created using the 2012 UDS clinical measures and standardized national  goals from Healthy People 2020, the National Quality Forum, and the National Committee for Quality Assurance.

“ACCESS works hard on achieving quality goals. Those goals translate into better health outcomes for our patients,” said McBride. “This award tells our patients we carry their health on our shoulders. We want the best for them and we’re working hard to make that happen.”

ACCESS participates in the Missouri Federal Qualified Health Centers formalized quality improvement efforts which began in 2006 with the establishment of the Missouri Center for Primary Care Quality and Excellence initiative in anticipation of an increasing expectation to quantify and demonstrate high quality care.

ACCESS Family Care will receive the award at the MPCA’s State Conference in Branson on October 4, 2013.

ACCESS Family Care (ACCESS), was founded in 1996 as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) for the purpose of increasing access to primary health care for those who lack medical insurance coverage. As an FQHC, ACCESS receives a 330 Federal grant from the Bureau of Primary Health Care designed to offset the expenses associated with providing sliding fee discounts to patients who demonstrate economic need.

“One of the special characteristics of community health centers is that they work to increase wellness in the communities they serve. We are highly regulated, we monitor and report on patient health outcomes, and we meet high standards for excellent care,” comments Chief Executive Officer Don McBride.

“Missouri ranks as one of the nation’s unhealthiest states. ACCESS is working hard and with patient cooperation, we’re making a difference and improving wellness in our communities.  That’s our job,” adds McBride.
